“Working with Renee has been an amazing experience. She has opened up our minds to so many ideas and has helped us with exploring our own writing and transferring it to students.
Renee is always there and willing to answer any questions that we may have about our writing process as both writers, and as teachers of writing. She has truly helped us and students enjoy writing.”
The Story
As a 4th grade teacher, Kimberly works with an Instructional coach and her grade level to create a curriculum.
In her years of working with students, she has always wanted to focus her professional study on the teaching of writing and student growth via writing.
This year, she was given the opportunity to work with Renee and from day one, it was a journey and an exciting ride!
The Challenge
Kimberly noticed an opportunity to study student motivation and engagement. She recognizes that writing is difficult and complex. When she paused and looked at her practice, she saw the chance to study methods of engagement, initiation, and a process of writing that she hoped students would make their own and independently return to over and over again.
Kimberly wanted to see more joy and more motivation in students. She also wanted to study teaching techniques that were engaging, authentic, and set up students to experience success on a consistent basis.
