Year-Round On-Campus Professional Development & Learning Services

Are you tired of the one-and-done professional development model? You know, the kind where you’re left with little productive change and cold coffee in a cafeteria.

Us too.

At Read. Write. Think. with Renee, we reimagine professional development and learning to support you all year long through cohesive, responsive, and customized professional study.

We offer three levels of support for schools and districts.

1. Brick & Mortar Residency/Lab Study - Our most SOUGHT AFTER SERVICE

This on-site residency study is customized to fit your school’s vision and needs - and includes a Read. Write. Think. with Renee team member who will join you on-campus throughout the year to deliver timely and responsive professional study.

Every Brick & Mortar Residency looks a little different, but each includes four main tenets when working with schools:

  1. Lab Study. Put on your scientist hat and step into the lab with us.  Together, we study, examine, and question our practices (ya know, like a scientist does in the lab).

  2. Mini-Institutes. Take the time to gain firsthand experience in the process of reading and/or writing first before teaching it to students. This study also helps to achieve schoolwide alignment on your vision and build the capacity of your team.

  3. Personalized Coaching. Teachers should have a voice in what they are learning. To facilitate this, we spend time one-on-one with your staff and serve as their thinking partner. This allows us to connect with each teacher and help them reach their personal, professional learning goals.

  4. Curriculum Planning/Pacing. Time to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. Curriculum planning days (often a crowd favorite) are spent planning out instruction in a way that includes all voices and incorporates best practices.

2. Coach Think Tank Cohort

What happens when you fill a room with coaches? Brilliance.

Your school’s coaches are crucial to professional learning. This cohort prioritizes building the capacity of coaches and provides the space for them to learn from one another.

These think tanks are year-long, cohesive, and responsive to the needs of the group.

Every group is unique,  but each Coach Think Tank Cohort typically involves:

  • Conducting Lab Studies in classrooms

  • Building content knowledge

  • Studying coaching best practices

  • Taking time to practice and design tools to use at your school site

3. Principal Think Tank

Leaders play vital roles in any community, but the role of the principal in a school community is especially integral. The role of principal is to inspire and create systems where all stakeholders can thrive. We have found that school leaders are often supported to lead their schools managerially, but are rarely supported in their professional study or given opportunities to build their capacity as educational leaders.

Enter: the  Read. Write. Think with Renee Principal Think Tank.

These think tanks are year-long, cohesive, and responsive to the needs of the group.

Every group is unique, but each Principal Think Tank seeks to support leaders in:

  • Creating systems for hearing teacher voice beyond formal observations for consistent connection

  • How to actually put those systems in place

  • How to create yearlong vision and goals

  • How to have hard conversations (accountability, agreement, alignment)

Off Campus Professional Development & Learning Support

Thinking critically about how to elevate your teaching practices goes beyond the four walls of a school.

That is why we also offer professional learning opportunities that are designed to be taken at your own pace from all over the world.

Online Courses

Whether you’re looking for a weekend crash course or a more extensive, in-depth yearlong study (or something in between),  check out our ever-expanding variety of online courses available for purchase.

Building Brilliance. A unique Mastermind where school leaders and principals meet entrepreneurial principles; designed for innovative and forward-thinking leaders who are looking to foster an engaged school community and make an impact.

New Teacher Academy. An opportunity for new (or newer) teachers to start their career with simple, successful, foundational skills and habits. Set aside time to go through the modules all at once, or spread it out into snackable bites throughout the year. Your Story Matters.  Join Antonio Sacre and Renee Houser as they share how the power of story creates a classroom culture that inspires literacy, social emotional growth, and healing.

Online Professional Learning

Sometimes, you just need a quick, standalone professional learning session about a hot topic issue impacting your school. To meet this need, we offer online professional learning opportunities throughout the year.

While these are not personalized for a specific school or district, we choose from today’s most pressing issues in the field of education and invite you to rethink your current understanding.

Stay up-to-date with our online learning through our newsletter and on social media.
